Excuse my tired face — would have been probably better to cut it out altogether.

I haven’t been well in past few days and today I stuck my nose out just to grab some lunch. I needed something easy and warm to throw on, so H&M PVC panel pants were introduced to my new James Anthony wing print tunic and my old thunder gray second hand rabbit fur. Topshop wedges — my booties are on repair and I’m still waiting for the Rützous… I ordered the T as a custom item — Alternative Apparel white burnout tunic was printed with black wing print. I highly recommend James Anthony Etsy shop, delivery was quick even for custom item and the quality is excellent.

About the fur… yes that is real. In the area where I grew up fur farms were common sight and I’m well aware how the animals are treated (badly, that is). I really don’t see any justifying reason to that production in these days. I would never buy a new fur. (Excluding maybe furs that are made out as side product of food production — if there are such things, don’t know, haven’t been too interested to find anything like that — but I guess that would be quite hypocrite from a carnivorous person to refuse those.)

On the other hand I think that it is almost a sin if every single fur item will not be used until the last hair falls out of it. When treated well a fur coat lasts for generations. It does not justify the production, but it makes the ecological footprint of a fur smaller if they are used as long as possible. Not a single penny of the 10 euros I paid for this pile of animal hair in a local flea market encourages any new production. Youngsters in need of something soft and fluffy have their paws all over the high street synthetic ones — or they are seasoned second hand shoppers like yours truly. I’ll bet that western countries do not raise new fur consumer generations, so much has the attitude changed in recent years.

Lazy blogging and some super easy DIY projects make the recovery time quite tolerable… …who would have thought…

I agree with you on the fur –issue; I have my mom’s old fur coat which was given to her by my dad when I was born. So as a nice memory, it also is the most ecological item in my wardrobe since it has survived over thirty years and still looks like brand new!

I agree with you on the fur issue, but do you get nasty comments from people when you wear it? Or do they just think it is synthetic? And for a recently ill person you look very stylish!
Ever since I have been reading your blog I have become much more creative with my wardrobe and even taken up wearing hats again — not done that since I was a teenager! So thank you for ongoing inspiration. Get well sonn.

Your fur is a lovely colour! I agree with you on fur issues, and own some vintage fur, but confess I don’t wear it that much — I’m actually thinking of turning a cpl of old lamb furs (including a peachy gold “krimi turkki”) into bed-throws or something, maybe a rug… Lamb fur especially is darn heavy to wear in current climate.

    Fakta: Thanks :)

Nina: I’m loving it, too! And it is nice to be “involved” to the design process — although in this case it was just picking the print and colors and selecting the shirt.

Anna: it is even better to have something that belonged to your loved ones. I think that I will gradually try to apply the idea of longevity to my whole wardrobe. Not that I have been too into short cycle clothing, ever.

Kruse: I think that here in Finland the situation is slightly different — i guess that 40 – 50 years ago some sort of fur was a necessity. That softens attitudes a bit, people know that there is lots of old stuff floating around and the luxury attribute of fur is not so strong.

Oh, it is so nice to hear that this blog encourages to experimentation! Dressing up is indeed fun, and even more so when taken not too seriously! It is so rewarding when the experiments turn to success!

sugar kane: this particular shade is one of my favorite colors, I really like how light sensitive it is — meaning that it shifts to blue, purple and pure gray depending on lighting.

Fur bed throws, pillow cases and rugs are absolutely luxurious, I think that it is a great idea to give a new life for too heavy (or partially worn) fur coats!
