//// Handknit on handknit

I’m pretty sure that according to some style guides knit on knit is one of those things to be avoided. Except in case of the classic twinset…

Dunno, but somehow piling on heaps of hanknitted stuff seems to work for me, the bulkier the better. I even plan to make a pair of long and rustic armwarmers to go with this.
The cape and the scarf are my own handknits (see my knitting blog archives if you wish to find out more). Divided Exclusive Men shirt underneath, it has lovely long arms with thumb openings. A pair of old waxed cotton pants and Rützou wedges.
I tried first to combine this cape to all things casual with bad results. It definitely works best with some tight, relatively structured and simple underneath, preferably with toughish feel. A pair of skintight leather pants would be the optimal companion — but I guess that I have to settle with these or some black leggings I already have.
Today I felt like hiding from the world. It SNOWED, wet, cold, ugly stuff. Not too happy about that.

Love this outfit. Exactly what I would do (knit on knit with something tight on the bottom). Can I have your sweater by the way?
And congrats on not getting snow before today — we’ve had it for over a week now!

You sure do know how to layer! And I need to dig up all my hand-knit pieces for warmth.

Aivan ihana tuo viita!!! Yhtäaikaa pehmeä ja veistoksellinen. (uskaltaakohan tällainen tumpeloneuloja kysyäkään: oliko se hankala/suuritöinen tehdä? ja mistä malli on kotoisin — onko se oma luomuksesi?)
P.S. Täällä on aika montaa Annaa kommentoimassa; mä taida jatkossa esiintyä Meidän Pariisin Annana.

Yeah, that softness of the knitted pieces works really well with the tough looking trousers and boots. I did a similar thing today with a beaten up old leather jacket, 80’s vintage and an enormous, soft, grey knit scarf.

Snow? Whaaaat. No, no, no!

i totally see how you could image it with some extremely edge look with the scarf — still, i liked the way you toped the chunky cardi with a chunky scarf … and you have enough charisma to really pull it off!!! this actually reminded me the very last look from Alexandre herchcovitch, which was very grand, but unfortunately, he outfitted the look on a super skinny girl without enough presence so the outfit wore the girl rather than the model wore the cloth — in your case, you wore the 2 knits REALLy well, xoxo

Steff, um, unfortunately the weather looks like I have to keep this cozy warmer here… Unfortunately the snow is not real snow here — it’s very wet and does not stay in the ground. Usually in Helsinki we get the snow cover in December or sometimes even later. I really don’t like snow (I hate slippery pavements) — but on the other hand it is so dark in here — and snow brings just a little bit more light.
sugar kane, be sure to take them to helsinki, this cold and moist air goes to the bones…
Kruse: would like to see that! I like to pair this scarf to my shrunken leather jacket too, the texture clash is delicious — and I like what the combination does to silhouette.
May, more like RÄNTÄ
Unocosa, this is one of my favorite winter pieces, I’ll bet that I will be remixing this in multitude of ways this winter! Thank you!

i remember this knit from your knitting blog and i’m glad you’ve found a way to wear. it looks great over those pants.
i looked through your back posts yesterday and since have been thinking about the big over skinny thing and wondering if it will work for me.

Michele, I’m pretty sure that it would. Some heel sure helps! Maybe even with long column skirt… …hmm…
