The door in my wardrobe*

*the door not actually being there was a disappointment - but at least I was allowed to play with the clothes

//// Julia Lundsten for Ports and
Basso & Brooke

It is always delightful to see a fellow Finn to make it in the big world — and Julia “Finsk” Lundsten is definitely doing that. In addition to her own collection I spotted her shoes from two spring collections: Ports and Basso & Brooke. I found some detail images from nymag.com. Lundsten for Ports looks like completely new collection (note: I haven’t seen images from Finsk ss collection… …they might be from there) with chunky twisted strap detail and super architectural heels. There are also brogues from white stingray, stingray platform pumps and some flats from interesting materials. I like the cheerful combination of pale blue and red — but the palette has also black and white, matte gold and nude.

Julia Lundsten for Basso & Brooke looks like a mix from Finsk 09 seasons completed with the experimental “Project One” numbers (see Susie on that for more information) and maybe few previously unseen colorways of 09 models.

I really like how Julia injects color to her designs. I recently saw the famous ponyhair wedge IRL with its color blocked sister (last image). To be honest I was more drawn to that color version — the cuts and color blocks complete the lines of the design in very satisfying way.

Adding some Finsk flair to my wardrobe is definitely a part of my spring shopping plan. The wooden chunky heels are probably not made for breaking walking records, but they’ll do great job just showing it off…
