The door in my wardrobe*

*the door not actually being there was a disappointment - but at least I was allowed to play with the clothes

//// Lazy layering

Posted on | October 11, 2009 | 8 Comments

Here’s some quite lazy and relaxed layering with somewhat familiar items.

I got some weakish inspiration from Marni SS10 show, the striped leggings were beautifully combined to shades of brown and flesh. I was about to dig something brown or rose in addition to these… …but then the laziness really stroke. I’m wearing my Kaksi-Två zebra leggings, H&M nude silk dress, Anette Görtz jacket, Necklush and Mentor for Rützou boots.

The Necklush has been here on my drawing only — and it is the last piece of my fall wardrobe plan. My H&M allowance has been used for few Divided Exclusive items (leggings, t-shirt and dress), one silk shirt and one dress from sale. And I had two slips from the plan, Wunder and Norwegian Wood got me… Now my shopping is officially limited to second hand only — until spring… …and the spring wardrobe plan should be gradually initiated.

I’m really happy that I picked the Necklush in printed version — one important observation about my wardrobe is that it lacks both print and texture. What I don’t really need more is wardrobe basics — until the old ones break or wear out.

If you have read this blog for a while, you can probably spot few minor changes and improvements. I wanted the links stand out better, so that is the reason for that pink introduction. I added some key tag links to the About-section on the right (now I have much more clear view what I’m going to do with this blog than I had when I started). I added the Link Within gadget in the end of the posts to pull up some older content  — you have to go to the post page to see them. The relevance of the links will improve gradually. I also added the Webshopping section to the side bar, the idea is to add links to the web shops I have personally used — and had good experiences so far. Not too many updates in sight.

Hope you enjoy the improvements! Suggestions are always welcome.

    Your Necklush piece is fabulous. I tried my hand on something similar earlier, cutting old black and white t-shirts to ropes, maybe I could add more layers and colour to it…

    Anna: tuhannet kiitokset, käyn tutustumassa blogiisi hetimiten!

    sugar kane: I actually tried a DIY necklush, too. But I did not want seams to the strings, so I tried to find tube jersey to cut the stripes from. Unfortunately in Finnish fabric shops the most tube jerseys are thick rib jersey — and that does not curl beautifully. So my attempt resembles more rug weave than I would like it to. Eurokangas had some bright colored light tube jerseys, though — i’ll bet that those would be fabulous for this kind of project.

    necklace is fantastic. i saw similar ready to wear in Topshop except it was made of narrow black braids. i almost bought it but then i though that in a conservative office it would be too much…maybe? i love the idea, it has been on my list for some time now.

    I love that necklush.
    I saw something similar at H&M but did not buy it. Ofcourse, I regret that now. I will have pay a visit to my favourite H&M store tomorrow an buy one. Thank you for opening my eyes and thank you for the inspiration.

    Lisa: I’m pretty sure that you can combine item like this in quite discreetly, single colored one over the same color and keeping everything else quite sharp — it would add just some texture.

    Anna-Maria: welcome!

    yeah, thanks, personally i prefer the print one. i love scarves in general and often have one on. but well, in our office this one would be a no-no, people would stare, you know. they already stare at my leopard platform which are very very modest in my opinion. :)
