//// The surface

The climate here in Finland is far from ideal from a viewpoint of person who enjoys dressing up. Winter is awfully long and cold, the coat is easily the most important item in the wardrobe. Have to admit that I have few…
This coat is an old super cheapie find from local post catalog. It was originally pale blue, beautiful color — but unfortunately a shade that washes me out badly when worn near the face. So I dyed it with dark gray and got this beautiful, slightly sad sade of blue. But for me the real thing in this coat is the material. It is linen mix with beautiful surface texture, great bouncy draping and that wrinkly look so characteristic to linen.
I admit that this time of year I often dress for the surface layer only when running some random errands. I mean what’s the point to think hard what’s underneath when you are going to keep the coat on anyway.
Everything else here is pretty familiar stuff, I wore the Divided mesh leggings over black leather look ones for some texture (that really contributes, but unfortunately it is impossible to see from these images) and warmth, some random black tunic underneath (yeah, the surface matters), Rützou wedges. Could not resist adding the pink corsage — the coat has the slight Emily-of-the-New-Moon-of-current-days vibe going on anyway — and for some reason I felt like underlining that today. The pink corsage is the newest addition in my small corsage collection, which in this case might mean that the piece is under two years old.
