//// Marimekko spring — I love it!
Posted on | November 25, 2009 | 8 Comments
For my delight our national pride in the field of fashion and design — Marimekko — seems to improve all the time. The great thing is that they employ young designers to freshen up both their print design and clothing lines. Right now I’m extremely happy about the following things.
Rinne & Niinikoski has designed some great clothing for next spring! See these beautifully constructed black and white numbers, can I has one?

Even the striped designs are quite fetching:

Samu-Jussi Koski does good job this spring especially with oversized jackets, t-shirts and knits — and adapting the classic “Unikko” print to very wearable chiffon dress:

Another thing is that — TADAA — Julia “Finsk” Lundsten has apparently designed some shoes for Marimekko. Judging from the images they seem to be slightly toned down in terms of height and shape from the most courageous Lundsten designs, but those sandals with ruffle detailing on front look interesting enough. Unfortunately I did not find a detail image of those, but here’s another pair for a taste:

For the first time I noticed to be interested in Marimekko bags, too. I mean their canvas bags are perfectly practical and well designed, you can definitely face a bunch of Finnish architects or designers sporting one — but they don’t actually create fashion waves…
This printed clutch would be a fabulous addition to many outfits:

Just cant pick the color…
All images from Marimekko, thanks for Claudia and Petra for making me aware of these good spring news!

Rinne&Niinikosken asut on ihania.
ps. tylsät kotihiirinörtit on usein kiinnostavia

Everything you’ve chosen from the collection looks great — I even like the styling, to me, Marimekko’s core always was a fresh, young, even fun approach to design, colour and life. I can imagine most of these clothes working within my wardrobe, but what I desperately need are the shoes with the b&w Lokki print!!!

I´ve always thought Marimekko as too geographic and baggy but stiff for me, but have found more than few nice things from the young designers collections in last few years. The new spring collection looks really fresh and wearable, as seen here. I have to stay tuned

Marimekko is my passion for last year. I have a coat with grey/winter print that every single person compliments for. Marimekko’s fabrics are durable and very good quality. recently clothes are also very architectural. i love tulip skirts and baloon dresses with polka dots in different sizes. black&white — certainly, but i never thought purple can be so youngish. and well, i started wearing greeen thanks to Marimekko. have their jersey shirt with a green/brown tree print. everyone pays attention, with white looks fantastic. Mari’s new Bags is a phenomenon of its own. they are simply great and i noticed them very long ago. i want the green one.

Mariah — I’m afraid that they are not available anymore. Marimekko does not have web shop, but you can find some Marimekko from Finnish Design Shop: http://www.finnishdesignshop.fi/Marimekko-m-13.html
