// If I ever…

So, my Bodas order turned out to be a success… …but if I ever go down a cup size or preferably two my first purchase will definitely be a satin bullet bra from What Katie Did.

// Soft shades
Posted on | April 30, 2010 | 4 Comments

I think I’m going to spend this whole spring in soft shades. The husband jeans will be my everyday basics and I will emphasize my newly found waist with fitted, waistlength jackets (still quite far from waist belts, though). Powder, marshmallow, cream, ivory, dove… …with denim, leather and preferably oxidised metals. Nothing fancy. Flowing, lightweight, easygoing, basic… …bit like my current life situation, which feels so very welcome after heavy autumn and long dark and very wintery winter.
So I’m wearing old Acne jeans, Ash wedges with some socks I found from my wardrobe, couple of sheer H&M tanks and new H&M jacket. This is awesome piece, the cut is great for my body type and I love the details. And it is not made in China…

Russian blue.
Bengal cat.
Neon pink shopper from UIAH design market about year ago. Or maybe two. Destroys all ladylikeliness, for sure!

// And then she would go to the fashion show…
Posted on | April 29, 2010 | 3 Comments

I could have caused an enormous dilemma for me by stressing about the dressing for my first ever fashion show visit… …but I did not. It was quite clear for me that I would build the outfit around another of my two pairs of Kaksi-Två leggings — and I picked the marbled ones, they have not been too much in use. I like them, but somehow they are not too easy to mix to my regular rotation. That is actually funny, the much more bold abstract zebra print just feels so much easier!
So I wore them with old Zara silk organza envelope dress with subtle transparency details — I like how the leggings strip the office hygiene out of this dress, the feeling is almost futuristic; Carin Wester wedges, Aarikka necklace worn as a bracelet and matte white nails. Originally I bought this Opi matte polish to be used under other polishes, but the flat white look is growing on me… And I have a bruise on my shoulder marking the regular gym-goer, steel is stronger than flesh Q.E.D..

// Showing it out
Posted on | April 28, 2010 | 7 Comments

I had a very welcome opportunity to see Kaksi-Två’s first fashion show at Kaapelitehdas today. I have been a fan of their great legwear and awesome leather accessories for a while, so I was very eager to see how far they had pushed their designs for a whole show and collection.
There indeed were some very familiar elements, leggings with marble & zebra prints and couple of new prints. The leathers had expanded from great soft bags to vests and accessories plus one striking cape / poncho that was paired to marbled catsuit. I also loved the combination of black sheer layers with printed lycra — and there were also couple of quite wearable jumpsuits on the show. I’m not actually a hooded sweater girl, but textured vests made simple sweater outfits definitely interesting. A brilliant idea was to co-operate with Saara Kivimäki for the show — her whimsical shoe creations fitted perfectly to Kaksi-Två’s clean lined, easygoing and playful designs. One thing though… …I did not quite get the sauna theme behind the show — the whole vibe of the collection was more urban street than countryside lounging.
I’m quite ready to add some Kaksi-Två leather and maybe one pair of awesome Saara Kivimäki boots to my wardrobe… …and now it is possible. They will be available from Monday at Helsinki 10 and Beamhill.
Sorry, the images are not too good… …I forgot to ask if I may use the flash so I did not. Unfortunately the lighting was very steep and kind of ended before the runway, so some models end up posing in dark spot…

Squishy leather by Kaksi-Två and Saara Kivimäki. Those ruffled boots were stunning.
How delicious is this?

My favorite styling from the show were these textured mesh pants over leggings looks. I think I could use some of that mesh, especially the dropped crotch pair just calls my name… The makeup was actually pretty rad, but unfortunately the upper image of these is the only one that gives some sort of idea of it.
Great texture here!
Happy designer duo Marjo Kuusinen and Piia Keto presenting their first show.

// Everyday underwear
Posted on | April 26, 2010 | 15 Comments

One thing where mass production goes horribly wrong in my case is underwear. I really don’t understand the logic why full breasted woman should a) crush the boulders together b) pull them up to the ears. For everyday wear I seek the exact opposite: I would like my breasts separated and tied to the chest pretty low. I don’t want any cleavage enhancement, that is. Even the so called minimizer bras go almost always wrong with a) (this look is really something horrible, the girls need some breathing space…). To explain the idea bit more: I’m definitely not aiming to this silhouette — for large chest aggressive push-up and lifting the breasts together does definitely not look good to my eye. My goal is more something like this. Note the cleavage, it looks almost flat — but the overall look of that bra certainly leaves a lot to hope for…
The other thing is that it is terribly difficult to find a non-underwired bra with cup size bigger than B. And I would love one — although I can settle to well fitting underwired one. Oh, and one more. NO PADDING, plz. I can live with the fact that I happen to have nipples — and I don’t want to add any extra to my already matronly measurements. I blame the Americans inflicting us with nipple fear… …it looks like majority of the selection in shops is at least lightly padded.
Then the look. Is it too much to ask that in addition to those practicality aspects the bra would not look like something my beloved grandmother would have worn? And I need those everyday bras in nude and black — other colors are nice to have but not totally necessary. Now when my ancient Gossard nude mesh bra (shame that they don’t have that line anymore) had to be discarded I really need some skin color to my stash.
Anu actually reminded me about this quest for perfect bra — and although I have done a good deal of googling for the keywords nude mesh bra before with masses of not work safe results and with less actual hits I decided to get back to this daunting task with newly found commitment.
The results. It looks like Bodas is the exact answer to my requirements. I really like their soft bra and bralette shape — the mesh fabric, sheer tactel (there is also opaque option) and lovely jabouley lace give the designs a great minimalist but sensual look. Waiting for the payday…
***
UPDATE 30.4. Ok, I got my first Bodas bra today — and it is perfect, not to mention the shipping which was like awesomely fast! Just don’t pay attention to the wonky sizing advice in the site, the sizing seems to be quite standard, very comparable for example Triumph. The only thing to consider with the sizing is that the band is quite stretchy at least on the mesh bra — so go for the smaller size if you are in between two.
The bra is super comfortable and well made, on mesh bra I especially like the fact that it has double fabric on the cups. I can recommend the mesh bra at least up to D-cup, the cup is full and the bra gives very nice firm but flexible support. And very flat cleavage! Love it. This could not have been better timing, my bra department is in need of supplementation. I will probably add some unwired dotty lace and maybe a black bralette next month.

Shades of toffee tame down the antique gold leather shorts for casual movie night. Not that they necessarily need taming… …but I like to incorporate fancy garments like those to everyday rotation — and although it is not that evident coming from a mouth (or pen or keyboard or whatever…) of style blogger, I’m not really an attention seeker.
Second hand leather shorts and crochet coat (the lining really needs to be changed and sewn better on, I knew it already but I’m such a lazy ass), old H&M silk shirt, COX booties and opaque gray tights. Not much happening in the accessory territory these days, I could really work on that…
And I have decided to emphasize even more the vintage / second hand department of my wardrobe.
BTW, next week I will hopefully have something to post from Finnish indie fashion scene… …I’m very excited to go and see my first ever fashion show IRL — and I’m definitely taking my camera with me. But back to that next week!

// No jurisdiction?????

After stumbling to this I have been browsing the stuff I carry and wear. My beloved iPhone — assembled in China. My H&M cotton lace jacket — made in China. Microsoft Compact Optical Mouse I’m constantly carrying with my laptop — made in China. And the laptop… …yeah, just guess…
I would probably feel bit better if I could even think that these purchases of mine would benefit the local businesses (although mostly the stockholders) — but no, these western mega-companies just outsource the problems of western consumerism and enjoy the profits. Oh, and my role in all this… …just continuing my old habits and keeping the big wheel rolling…
That headline is totally fucked up. Amazing… …what about devastating?

// Useless?

I’m quite fascinated by this evil mutation of basic gray sweatshirt, the holes are not created all haphazardly but they form a weird, alienesque pattern — and the outfit is greatly affected by the layer underneath. It allows also varied states of skin exposure — which is actually a good thing at this time of year. But on adding some extra warmth… …it is almost useless…
The sweater is from Cheap Monday (Ann-Sofie Back in charge), American Apparel tube dress underneath. Norwegian Wood mesh leggings and COX booties. Sour expression… …again… …when do I learn to control my face in front of the camera…
She was quite happy to get some attention…

Shades of white! Forget Chanel… …they will make it maybe next year…

BleachBlack Jizz, will be available from Needsupply (gosh, what kind of traffic will that get for me
).

And a great budget option: Color Club Who Are You Wearing with very cool gray and mauve tinge. Try eBay for this. Image from awesome Scrangie — she has the best polish pictures — and the girl swatches like there’s no tomorrow…
