//// Everyday underwear
Posted on | April 26, 2010 | 15 Comments

One thing where mass production goes horribly wrong in my case is underwear. I really don’t understand the logic why full breasted woman should a) crush the boulders together b) pull them up to the ears. For everyday wear I seek the exact opposite: I would like my breasts separated and tied to the chest pretty low. I don’t want any cleavage enhancement, that is. Even the so called minimizer bras go almost always wrong with a) (this look is really something horrible, the girls need some breathing space…). To explain the idea bit more: I’m definitely not aiming to this silhouette — for large chest aggressive push-up and lifting the breasts together does definitely not look good to my eye. My goal is more something like this. Note the cleavage, it looks almost flat — but the overall look of that bra certainly leaves a lot to hope for…
The other thing is that it is terribly difficult to find a non-underwired bra with cup size bigger than B. And I would love one — although I can settle to well fitting underwired one. Oh, and one more. NO PADDING, plz. I can live with the fact that I happen to have nipples — and I don’t want to add any extra to my already matronly measurements. I blame the Americans inflicting us with nipple fear… …it looks like majority of the selection in shops is at least lightly padded.
Then the look. Is it too much to ask that in addition to those practicality aspects the bra would not look like something my beloved grandmother would have worn? And I need those everyday bras in nude and black — other colors are nice to have but not totally necessary. Now when my ancient Gossard nude mesh bra (shame that they don’t have that line anymore) had to be discarded I really need some skin color to my stash.
Anu actually reminded me about this quest for perfect bra — and although I have done a good deal of googling for the keywords nude mesh bra before with masses of not work safe results and with less actual hits I decided to get back to this daunting task with newly found commitment.
The results. It looks like Bodas is the exact answer to my requirements. I really like their soft bra and bralette shape — the mesh fabric, sheer tactel (there is also opaque option) and lovely jabouley lace give the designs a great minimalist but sensual look. Waiting for the payday…

UPDATE 30.4. Ok, I got my first Bodas bra today — and it is perfect, not to mention the shipping which was like awesomely fast! Just don’t pay attention to the wonky sizing advice in the site, the sizing seems to be quite standard, very comparable for example Triumph. The only thing to consider with the sizing is that the band is quite stretchy at least on the mesh bra — so go for the smaller size if you are in between two.
The bra is super comfortable and well made, on mesh bra I especially like the fact that it has double fabric on the cups. I can recommend the mesh bra at least up to D-cup, the cup is full and the bra gives very nice firm but flexible support. And very flat cleavage! Love it. This could not have been better timing, my bra department is in need of supplementation. I will probably add some unwired dotty lace and maybe a black bralette next month.

I can totally symphatize with you on this, even though my problems with finding bras in big sizes are quite different. I tend to wear very open necklines, but for some reasons all the bras in bigger sizes tend to attempt to cover my entire chest are to the neck. And while I don’t mind showing cleavage, I certainly mind displaying those god-awful ugly bras I find for my size.
I just can’t understand why it’s so frigging impossible to find even decent bras for big breasts. Finding right sizes is a nightmare, finding a fitting shape in the right size is even worse, and finding a good looking fitting bra in the right size, is pretty much impossible. It’s absolutely astounding how small the selection seems to be in Finland. And I’m a bit apprehensive about buying something that should fit so well without first trying it on, so online-shopping would be out of question for me :/ Have you ever tries Bodas’s models before?

That is exactly the downside of these: no I haven’t. The nearest brick & mortar shop is at Copenhagen
I guess that I will take a dive and try… …unpadded cups are slightly more forgiving than padded ones, and at least I think I know my right size…
Haha, I’m wearing lots of open necklines, especially on the summer. And so many of my oversized tanks have large hand openings as well. So I would not mind my bra looking good…

Minun on varmaan pakko. Havahduin tosiaan siihen tilanteeseen, että minulla ei ole yksiäkään käyttökelpoisia ihonvärisiä liivejä.
Jos noista löytyy istuvat, niin voisin vaihtaa koko arkivalikoimani noihin…

I never understood why everyday underwear should be boring. To each their own of course, but if I could chose I’d always use Marlies Dekkers bras.
They are definitely not cheap, but the hold and support is amazing. Not to mention how beautiful they are. I generally wear a size C and I haven’t found a better bra label for me (not that I’ve tried that hard after I found these).

Marlies Dekkers has too much push-up action and padding going on for my taste… …the make or break it for me in bra is the look it gives to the cleavage. I aim for as flat looking neckline as humanly possible.
Plus I have to say that I like sheer and simple looks more than most decorations in underwear… …although I would not mind seeing those strap details typical to Marlies Dekkers designs incorporated to sheer and sleek looks…
One of the best looking everyday bra options for my taste is American Apparel sheer mesh triangle bra (and it has great color options in addition to black and nude, I love the bright purple one I have). Unfortunately I need more support than that…

I am with you here. Finding a good bra has nearly become hopless. I have a small cup size (A) and for some reason the producers of undergarment have not yet realised that all small chested women do not dream of becoming bigger chested women. Finding an unpadded bra is nearly impossible. But if I wanted a bra with gel cusions or pads the size of pillows, there is no difficulty in findng one at all.
Calvin Kleins lingerie line have some good unpadded, underwire bras in black, white and nude. With good matching sturdy-cover-all-the-ars-nickers (wearing a piece of floss bewteen my buttocks is not what I do, I want my nickers in good nun size

Hei kiitti tosta American Apparel –liivivinkistä! Noi olis ihan mun juttu: haluun jotkut tosi rajun väriset. Pinkit.

April 28th, 2010 @ 10:35 pm
Oh, I really dig those obi-belts from Sokeria Kans — gorgeous material combinations! Maybe I should get rid of my belt phobia…
Anna — nuo on mahtavat.
