The door in my wardrobe*

*the door not actually being there was a disappointment - but at least I was allowed to play with the clothes

//// I like Mondays

Too bad we got Weekday / Cheap Monday here in Helsinki… …Weekday is definitely my favorite high street chain after COS and I should steer clear from there if I want to limit my high street shopping. Fortunately they did not get the whole Diana Orving collaboration to Helsinki — and definitely not the pieces I would loved to have seen like that grey jersey with black sheer something…

It might be me slightly disappointed to fall trends, lurking the next summer — and pretty much would like to add the sweatshirt with corset cut details, simple cropped knit and silvery jeans and the perfect sheer layering dress to my basic wardrobe right now. Can I has those awesome plastic thigh high boots, too? And that great tube swimsuit — if my boobs magically decide to shrink about two thirds. All these from Cheap Monday SS 2011. I think that Ann-Sofie Back is doing great job in there.

These pictures make me think that I have nothing against minimalism — if there is at least just a slight note of futurism mixed in.

    I think the designs are great (love the sheer dresses and skirt!) but the problem with Weekday is that the quality has suffered a lot after merging with the H&M. The clothes used to be made out of good cotton and other natural materials, now they are all horrible polyester blends. After a few wears and washes, they shrink, seams twist, the garment is linted and totally unusable. I can tell this by the fact that I still have some old Weekday/Cheap Monday products which have lasted for years, whilst the latest purchases have been ruined in a few weeks.

    Luckily COS still has good quality and cuts, I have not had any problems with their garments.

    It’s a pity that the whole Diana Orving collection is not coming to Helsinki, I was hoping to get few pieces (assuming that the quality will be better than of the general clothing) for myself.

    You are right… …the whole Diana Orving collection was man-made fibers only. The grey mesh stuff is there now, if you are interested in having a look — the only item I did not spot there today was the red coat. I actually liked the green coat-dress quite a lot — and the pants had really quirky cut… …but both were 100% polyester.

    The t-shirt collection in general is decent, mostly cotton and viscose jersey… …I got myself one large square shirt from the autumn collection — it’s quite gorgeous!

What do you think?
