// Chunk of silver

I ran to this weird looking chunk of silver in my neighborhood charity shop. It is perfectly comfortable and could belong to some sort of cybernetic organism as well. But it is mine!

I’m a cardigan girl. But I need them disproportionally large — or shrunken and small — textures and patterns don’t hurt. Could not help myself when I saw this cotton cardigan in H&M earlier in this autumn. Got to check if I have some nice prints to combine to this. I also love it as a part of simple everyday black and white outfits.
It has not been a huge clothes investment autumn for me — the browns and camels have invaded the shops and boutiques — not to mention the faux shearling *shudders*, not exited. Guess I can wait until it is time for blacks and grays again, haha!
Leather pants are from Selected and clumpy suede wedges from Vagabond. I really like the awkward shape and detailless look of them.

// Too pretty for my home?
Posted on | October 24, 2010 | 4 Comments

The truth about my home wear is that I spend my time there in comfy sweatpants and stretched out cashmere knits. Sometimes I dream about pulling myself together and starting to wear some actually attractive loungewear. I would probably start my collection from Plum Pretty Sugar in Etsy and get myself a set of cami dress and knee length robe with beautiful, preferably mismatching prints. And the robe would easily double as floaty summer top, it would be a shame to wear those behind the closed doors, only. Hmmm…

I know, I know — this post is far from seasonal! But one wardrobe staple for me is a pair of full leather, flat, minimal pair of sandals. They are surprisingly hard to come by and my previous silver and natural colored pair I have almost worn to pieces. So I was very happy to run to tuto sandals in Etsy. They look pretty much perfect. There are several simple models, most of them with leather soles, several options for leather from unstitched vachetta to snake and ostrich plus several color options from solids to metallics. A pair of these will sure make their way to my closet for the next summer. Should it be nude vachetta or hint of metallic… …decisions, decisions!

// Thoughts about Lanvin for H&M
Posted on | October 15, 2010 | 3 Comments
I definitely confess being one of the fashion victims running after H&M collaborations — but honestly I have just good things to say about the stuff I have purchased. Both silk dresses I have (from Lagerfeld and McCartney collections) are keepsakes. Loving the lightweight, deconstructed wool jackets from CdG collection — and feeling regrets for not getting more from that collection. And the latest, the toad shoes and weekend bag for my husband from Jimmy Choo collection are definitely worth every penny. Not to mention that I got the butter soft leather LBD from the sales with ridiculous price.
And now, Lanvin. For me Lanvin represents timeless design in good way, the sharp suits and beautiful dresses don’t just repeat the classic shapes, the collections are always recognizable but never boring. I love how Elbaz is able to inject a bit of edginess and toughness to clothes with very, very upscale profile. Yes, they feel inaccessible — and reflecting a world with endless rows of cocktail parties and exclusive meetings, but at the same time the bold jewelry and other great accessories, dramatic but often also easy-to-wear shapes inspire numerous high street copies. I think it is great to see something high street, coming from Elbaz’s own hand.
Some rumors say that they are recreating the SS 2010 collection for H&M. Although not my absolute favorite it is a great one, and I will definitely keep my eye on flowy jumpsuits and beautifully draped dresses, preferably in bold jewel tones or nude — well, maybe one of the less flashy ones, it would be nice to be able to wear it up and down. I would love to see some of the giant necklaces reproduced, too!
The only thing I’m dreading is the shopping experience… …I deeply HATE the rush.

// Featherink

I have a tattoo on exactly same place. I don’t like it — and honestly have considered covering it with black rectangle. Can I ask that from a serious tattoo artist? Maybe if I tell that it is a reference to Space Odyssey 2001?
But on the other hand… …a feather would cover it perfectly. Feathers remind me of mortality. They are the fallen leaves of fauna.

// Cropped it…
Posted on | October 9, 2010 | 7 Comments

Yep, I cropped the darn Acne dress. And cut the neck opening to better shape — actually like the dress lot more now when all the edges are raw. Now it is below the knee length and agreeing so much better with the rest of my wardrobe. I’m layering it with gigantic Weekday shirts (the beige mesh one, and nude square T), leggings (this pair H&M) and my own knits (the gray cape and see-thru mohair one). Comfy! But they predict snow next week… …guess I have to start to cover my legs…

I’m quite liking the bluntness of Vagabond Gaga. Their minimal blackness make so much sense to me right now.
