Oh the beauty of these hand made leather roses! I saw them in Kingdom of Style few days ago — but when Cyn contacted me via email I actually took a decent look into all her creations in ManoBello shop.
I’m very drawn to these solitary roses… …is it my emerging attraction to belts? On the other hand, those soft leathers could probably be easily wrapped to wrist or head, why not around the neck. The interplay and contrasts of motif, muted colors of leather and the material itself really make these special to me.

// My boutique in the Boutiques
Posted on | November 21, 2010 | 2 Comments
I’m always eager to try new websites and services — and I have to say that Google Boutiques will probably serve a purpose for me. I have always felt that Polyvore is bit “static” for my taste and I don’t really enjoy making the collages, Looklet is a fun toy to play occasionally… …but with Boutiques I can keep a living, ever changing “wish list” that reflects my style in real time. I really like the insight it reveals when the collection starts to accumulate. And it renders the wish list posts quite obsolete. The browsing options still don’t work perfectly (the site is beta), but the whole search based approach is very practical. Some items seem to mystically disappear from “favorites” although they still are marked when I search them — or I just don’t understand how to browse the whole favorites collection. It looks to me that the paging over my favorites does not page my favorites, but the automatic recommendations for my style, which is bit of a bummer. Not sure about the “recommendations” and their overall usefulness… …but we’ll see how they improve when my collection grows.
Feel free to follow my boutique — and don’t forget to start your own! Maybe we should tell Santa as well!

// Winter scent

I love non-floral amber based scents. They really melt with my skin chemistry, have often amazing lasting power, but stay close to skin. I don’t like to intimidate people with my perfume. Ambre Soie from Armani Prive line adds three of my favorite spices to the mix: pepper, ginger and cloves. I’m head over heels of this scent… …and now it is available here (Stockmann). Pricey, but I’m seriously tempted.
Plus I love the bottle…

// Dancing the night away

I don’t know if other people than Finns arrange these pre-Christmas parties… …anyway — my calendar starts to be full. Personally I think that everyday dressing is so much more interesting than clothing for parties… …I’m doing it usually just by this old convenient formula: put on a dress and heels, funky tights optional. I don’t do sexy — just some sort of girly-quirky. Or dark and austere. But that’s about it.
Dress is old Karl Lagerfeld for H&M — and I love it to bits. It is 100% silk — it does not have actual lining but the opacity builds from the multiple crepe chiffon layers. The frocklike shape is bit playful — but it can be also worn with very classic accessories. Um… …mine are blindingly bright Topshop sale tights — and awesome Kron by Kron Kron shoes from Iceland — I believe they haven’t been here yet although they are not new. There is bit of everything in them — that somehow makes them quite easy to combine. Their broque-like details match them nicely to this wannabe-frock dress…
Truth about me and dancing — I don’t do it…

// Shoe lust

I have to say that I’m slightly lusting over these All Saints Theta sandals. Actually I would be all over them if I were’n afraid that they might be just a substitute to black Acne Agate heels for me — which I did not get when they still were available. The design is definitely not a knock off — would not even say inspired by — but they still have lot of similar feel going on…
Anyway — the combination of shiny steel heel and pebbled leather looks quite fetching…

// Black belt, white belt
Posted on | November 10, 2010 | 2 Comments

I haven’t been using belts much in the past fifteen years or so. But I guess that I could warm up my relationship to them a bit. I’m still not huge fan of cinching my waist (especially wide ones make me feel too boobalicious), but I guess that I might eventually start experimenting, cautiously under oversized layers or with belts that almost camouflage themselves to the outfit.
My oldest belt (well, not probably in age — but in my posession) is probably this old super skinny InWear one, with wide plain buckle. Extremely useful little piece. The newest addition is NorwegianWood elastic harness belt. I’m very fond of it’s utilitarian, medical / sporty feel and really like to layer it with similar tones — and under loose layers. I also love how the shape adds up to regular racerbacks.

// Pearls reworked
Posted on | November 6, 2010 | 2 Comments

I have been a frequent stalker at Sou Brette website after found them via Style Bubble. The new collection Unknown Waters looks breathtakingly beautiful. The pearls are suspended in giant blocks ove resin, combined to water colored heavy tubes and antique metals, what an awesome take to such a conservative and classic jewelry material! The pieces are strong but create also a weirdly immaterial impression. I would love to pile on four bracelets like on the first image — or couple of those magnificent necklaces!

// Winter hippie

The reason I absolutely adore my cheap second hand furs is their ability to change any outfit winter proof. Today I dug out my ancient Diesel bell bottoms from the closet, paired them to old Zara cotton voile blouse and Marc by Marc Jacobs boots — old rabbit coat on — and I was good to go. A pile of pendants would have also worked well, but I was too lazy to go through the jewelry box… …maybe next time.

// They’re up…

Lanvin for H&M pics are up on Nitrolicious — the whole women’s collection.
Hmm, these are my favorite pieces — but I’m not loving them, just liking. I’m not in need of another asymmetric party frock (I have one in leather and one in lace). Jewelry looks trinkety and the shoes are pretty boring bow adorned pumps. No jumpsuits, no draped dresses that can be worn up and down.
Guess I’m going to save my pennies.
