I’m definitely an advocate of fabric bags, in my everyday life I often prefer them over the heavier leather bags.
I would love to add this woodcut print, zippered one to my collection. Awesome handcraft from Kasploy. Check the whole shop, it features a parade of print gorgeousness!
A thing that is missing from my small bag collection is a large clutch. I have some DIY plans for filling that gap, but if they fail the backup might be this delicious handmade leather clutch by BUbeunik. This shop, too, is filled with utterly covetable bags and accessories.

// Beautiful feathers
Posted on | March 20, 2011 | 2 Comments

I truly am more interested in accessories than usual, browsing the blogs for accessorizing ideas, Etsy for one of the kind handmade stuff, even honing my own modest skills in accessory making. Personally I often tend to prefer quite sparely and functionally accessorized looks — but I do like unusual, large and visually interesting accessories as focal point, sometimes piling stuff on, but even then I like to center the focus to one area — neck, hands, maybe on the waist in the future…
I really want to avoid the term “statement” here. Come on — what is that as an statement to wear a huge necklace… …“I’m wearing a huge necklace”… …duh… …or is it just me not understanding all the flavors of foreign language? My style is not a statement, it is just collection of stuff I find visually appealing.
Uh, forgive my ramblings, I was just about to post about these perfect summer earrings! Long, lightweight and beautifully made feather pieces by Selfish Birds. Natural and dyed, with silver, gold and bronze hardware.
Want more feathers? Well, there is gorgeous Owlita — found them originally via Kingdom of Style. If I don’t find the lightweight pair too distracting I might start saving to a single or a pair of these mothers of all feather earrings… Black and white ones look so beautiful, but I like the bright solid colors like aqua and plum as well. I’m a sucker of ballet flats — for me it is the next best option to going barefeet — which is never happening for me as long as I live in the city. Right now I’m quite drawn to this raw and beautiful pair from Spirocreations.

Oh the beauty of these hand made leather roses! I saw them in Kingdom of Style few days ago — but when Cyn contacted me via email I actually took a decent look into all her creations in ManoBello shop.
I’m very drawn to these solitary roses… …is it my emerging attraction to belts? On the other hand, those soft leathers could probably be easily wrapped to wrist or head, why not around the neck. The interplay and contrasts of motif, muted colors of leather and the material itself really make these special to me.

// Too pretty for my home?
Posted on | October 24, 2010 | 4 Comments

The truth about my home wear is that I spend my time there in comfy sweatpants and stretched out cashmere knits. Sometimes I dream about pulling myself together and starting to wear some actually attractive loungewear. I would probably start my collection from Plum Pretty Sugar in Etsy and get myself a set of cami dress and knee length robe with beautiful, preferably mismatching prints. And the robe would easily double as floaty summer top, it would be a shame to wear those behind the closed doors, only. Hmmm…

// Next to bare feet

I know, I know — this post is far from seasonal! But one wardrobe staple for me is a pair of full leather, flat, minimal pair of sandals. They are surprisingly hard to come by and my previous silver and natural colored pair I have almost worn to pieces. So I was very happy to run to tuto sandals in Etsy. They look pretty much perfect. There are several simple models, most of them with leather soles, several options for leather from unstitched vachetta to snake and ostrich plus several color options from solids to metallics. A pair of these will sure make their way to my closet for the next summer. Should it be nude vachetta or hint of metallic… …decisions, decisions!

// Vietto photoshoot
Posted on | August 20, 2010 | 6 Comments

I had a great honor to do a photoshoot for my friend, Minna Kaartinen, who has the pair of busy hands behind the small indie eco fashion brand Vietto. Minna designs very useful daily separates and great accessories from recycled materials, the softest eco cotton jersey, fluid bamboo jersey, handpainted fabrics… …and guess what, she is sewing / knitting / making every single piece herself at her home studio!
The pieces are not actual collection, so we decided to style them one piece at a time, with simple nude separates. The site was the awesome Merikaapeli hall at Kaapelitehdas. We did both simple lookbook/product images and bit of moody set, utilizing the beautiful natural light shining through the giant factory windows. Our model is Essi Vahala, I found her shopping at Forum H&M. So the whole thing was done by amateurs… …but I think that Essi’s gorgeusness and very photogenic Vietto apparel easily compensate my shortcomings in the art of photography and make-up.
Most of these items are available at Vietto Etsy shop.
