// Pencil silhouette

For my body type — curvy and feminine in relatively small boned frame — it would be all natural to explore the classic pin-up silhouettes. I just can’t do that. What I can do is to take a piece or two from that world and mess the silhouette by adding some oversizedness, clumpiness… …well, awkward shapes of my choice.
In my world this egg-shaped sweater is pretty much a perfect match for this old pencil skirt. I like how the sex-kitten angora fuzziness meets perfectly body concealing shape. The knit is heavyweight enough to have some body of its own. I also dug a pair of *gasp* kitten heel pumps with ridiculously sharp toe from my closet. They have looked so outdated for many years, but I still love their perfect nude shade and vintage appeal.
The knit is from H&M, pinstriped cotton pencil skirt with jean pocket details by Diesel and several years old — it’s truly restrictive with close fit, heavy fabric and no walking slit — the pumps are by Bronx, from the beginning of the millenium…

// Summer accessories part one

This spring I have been searching for an upper arm bangle from flea markets, Etsy and such with no luck. Fortunately I checked the neighborhood — not necessarily in the upper-arm-bangle-business — however I found that accessory label gTIE had moved the studio to the house next door. gTIE got started from Jenni Ahtiainen’s guest to find alternatives to traditional neckties. Today Jenni’s boutique designs and produces a wide range of accessories for men and women… …from necktie alternatives to jewelry and leather accessories.
gTIE accessories certainly have their roots in rock and punk culture, but I get some Scandinavian minimalism from Jenni’s designs as well. Many of her accessories are well adaptable to many styles. I was very drawn to a certain piece — a neck corset constructed from thin leather straps — but in the name of convenience (yes, the corset had just laces to attach it, with multiple tiny holes to lace into) and in fear of funny tan lines I bought this simple and beautiful arm chain. It fills the void of upper arm bangle, but is more comfortable to wear — and nicely upgrades those summery everyday outfits. With the arm chain I feel like I made an effort — even when wearing those denim cutoffs *yawn* and a t-shirt *ZZZZZZZZ*.
T-shirt is old Diesel one — I love this particular shade of purple and it goes so well with my coloring. Cutoffs, old as well… …H&M.

The reason I absolutely adore my cheap second hand furs is their ability to change any outfit winter proof. Today I dug out my ancient Diesel bell bottoms from the closet, paired them to old Zara cotton voile blouse and Marc by Marc Jacobs boots — old rabbit coat on — and I was good to go. A pile of pendants would have also worked well, but I was too lazy to go through the jewelry box… …maybe next time.

Okay, it’s been a while since I have last been able to cook up something that could pass as an outfit… …but I decided to break the blog silence because I finally found my old long jersey skirt from the depths of my wardrobe couple of weeks ago. I remembered it being good length and I was not wrong. I prefer wearing it with flats an light, flowy layers. The printed top is old Diesel one and the mesh… …thing… …I found from flea market, it has no tags at all so no clue about it’s origins. Wrist chainmail is DIY. Fabric bag and my old flats have been my trustworthy friends in this heat (continuing still).

I wanted to reward myself for my exercise project with something that I have wanted for a long time, something I believe I do use a lot and something I don’t consider completely outrageously out of my price range. So now I’m a happy owner of classic slouchy shaft Vivienne Westwood pirate boots in suede. The taupe color goes well with my wardrobe and I love the lightweight construction, these can be well incorporated to summer outfits as well.
The weather is very warm and summery, so the dressing is simple. I’m wearing an old Diesel sundress covered up with H&M cardigan — this piece has been probably my best high street purchase from this spring. The slouchy cut is excellent and I love the lively material. One of my Pilgrim pendants is hiding underneath the dress.
So… …this was the last month for my start for more physically active life — and although this month either was perfect from the exercise perspective (traveling and now the flu) I think I have actually changed something in my habits because I’m actually missing regular exercise when I’m not doing it. On this period I did not focus on weight loss, but I got down 4 – 5 kg and it certainly has not been my muscle mass.
Naturally this was not the end of the project. My summer holiday starts tomorrow and when I get well I’m planning to have a physical activity filled semester. And I could really focus on weight loss for a while. I’m still quite chubby.

There are things that I have loved ages — like Ray Ban aviator sunglasses. There were so many years I thought I can’t use them because of my high and round cheekbones. Mwahahahaaa! Guess what, when one ages one stops to care and wears what she wants anyway! I bought this awesome ombre pair two or three years ago and haven’t had any regrets. I love to wear them with feminine hair — but maybe even more with strict, pulled back hair and loose utilitarian clothes. This is perhaps as androgynous look as it is possible for me.
All stuff is old — or ancient. The bulky T is actually the lovely oversized T-shirt dress from Babooshka Boutique, newest item in this bunch and can’t recommend it more, the jersey is soft and heavyveight — and has not lost any of it’s blackness in repeated washes. Plus the shape is just… …awesome. The leather jacket is really old and from H&M (spank me, plz), booties are old Vagabonds and the jeans are from Diesel — they were originally faded blue but I dyed them black couple of years ago.
At the time I bought the jeans (several years ago) the tapered loose leg was practically nonexistent phenomena… …and it often happens to me that when some shape or cut disappears from street view I create desperate craving for it. That’s not because I want to be the early adapter or something — I just feel that it is not good to limit the options available for the sake of trends or something (you’ll bet I’m stashing harem pants… …they surely disappear any day now…). Whatever, I have loved this pair dearly, the cut is actually very flattering for my body type (can’t believe I said that), they are extremely comfortable and I love every single detail of these (the elaborate stitching, the twisting inner seams, some extra tool loops on the waist).
And hail for the unexpected fashion icon!

I have promised myself to step out the black shoe rut. And to be honest, maroon and purple options start to look very good to my eye. These booties are from Yoox, by Dsquared2 and Diesel. Either ones would do. Or both of them!

Velvet looks so sumptuous right now! I could accommodate my toes to these Castañer wedges for the holiday season.
All images from Yoox.

I’m layering some soft simple and old stuff with the H&M PVC panel pants to tone them down a bit — Diesel tank with pale star print, dirty pink Zara cardigan, giant A.F. Vandevorst shrug, Docs… …in spite of all that softness this starts to look like a weird futuristic uniform to me. Or some sort of space pirate costume. Oh dear, should I start to grow up and take things (like dressing up) seriously…
