I’m very fascinated by these picture frame necklaces by elhombreylaluna.

// Seeing gold!

China Glaze Chrome 2030 *oops its Khrome* nail polish. I’m in awe: this is just one coat, dries lightning fast — and I’ve never seen a finish like this in nail polish. The silvers are pretty rad, too.
I could wear this with…

// Happy holidays from Digby and Iona!
Posted on | December 17, 2009 | 2 Comments
I have nothing against working as a modest marketing vessel for small brands — when they fit the overall content of this blog. Digby and Iona recently sent me an e-mail about their work — which definitely fits:

Their jewelry work is intricate but by no means dainty. Animal rings have been around a while now, but Digby and Iona’s deer ring might be one of the most beautiful ones I’ve ever seen. I also love the use of vintage materials as a part of the jewelry design — the vintage domino necklace in bone and ebony is so precious, perfect layering piece, I’m swooning all over it. Cocktail rings with contrasting metal “stones” and two finger ring with ornament detail are fabulous, too.
A nice thing to know is that you can get 20% off till New Year with code “holiday”. I feel slight regrets that I already got my own Christmas present for myself… …the deer ring is definitely calling my name.

// DIY body chain
Posted on | December 9, 2009 | No Comments

I’ve been thinking about purchasing a body chain for a while… …but then again those are quite simple pieces and by doing it by myself I could control the details. So I purchased few meters of oxidised brass chain, some jump rings and few clasps — and end up with this piece. The best part of it is that it can be worn in multitude of ways. The basic setting is on the first picture, where the piece is closed from back of the neck and waist. But on the low back I have two clasps, attached to each other in the basic arrangement — so the piece can be easily worn as a big chain waterfall lariat by attaching these locks to the upper middle front. I made also one extra piece to be attached to the main piece (for example center back) or worn over it, I’m actually searching a certain type of pendant to use with this occasionally.
Sorry, I was not able to make any effort with actual outfits. At this time of year I snuggle at home wearing a pair of H&M harem cut sweatpants, couple of tanks ot Ts, cashmere knit worn over, topped with a blanket wrapped around the shoulders (I like cool temperature at home, keeps my brain clear (if that is possible)). I just dropped the two top layers to get a pic from this piece…
I like it a lot worn underneath the clothes, especially with open neckhole.

// Vampire charm
Posted on | November 30, 2009 | 4 Comments
Got e-mail yesterday from Bittersweets, they make some neat jewelry from solid gold and silver. I like especially the vampire teeth bent to heavy ring, lovely dainty feather ring with chain and dagger necklace. But there are some severed fingers, earthworms, maggots… — and extremely beautiful lightweight, extra long pearl necklaces that can be worn in multitude of ways. Their blog is quite helpful to give a good view of those pieces in actual use.
So, dear Santa…

PS. Used to hate all vampire stuff before True Blood… …but those southern rednecks and snaggle tooths with cheesy switch-on sound have turned my head. Who knew.

// Doloris Petunia
Posted on | November 17, 2009 | 4 Comments
Oh, Doloris Petunia, I have a confession to make. I love all your wild, crazy statement necklaces. Those giant glass stones arranged to netting revealing the skin underneath, random trinket explosions, ribbons to be tied behind the neck, sequin fringes… Would love to feel one floating around my neck while I’m dancing to the dawn. Well, I don’t dance that much but I love the idea…

And wait, there is another one coming! I secretly dream about your fancy headpieces, too! Maybe I should take some advice from the royal court and start wearing these while cleaning up the bathroom… …changing the bedsheets… …emptying the cat litter box… …sneaking in the woods in hope of mushrooms (bit late for that but you get the idea).

I love items that explore the beauty of everyday items. Perpetual necklace from (of)matter utilizes the flaps of vintage flip clock. You can naturally ask for a special number…

Oh, insanely beautiful! A necklace made of small vaccine bottles from Star of the East. Upcycling at its best. The shop is really worth a visit, even for those who appreciate more traditional approach for jewelry design.

I’m not all into dainty sweet jewelry… …but could I say no to Baby Skull *aww* from Michelle Chang Jewelry? Probably not!
Her simple brushed silver stud rings are pure goodness, too.

// Circles around the neck

I think that I mentioned about my fascination for disc jewelry. It was by no means a surprise that I instantly fell in love with the current featured seller, Meetail’s designs in Etsy. She does beautiful, timeless pieces from oxidized metals, the designs are a beautiful combination of delicate and bold, futuristic and worn.
I’m also warming up to stack rings, especially when the stack is huge. Unfortunately my fingers are really difficult for rings. I have minuscule finger joints, so it needs to be the flesh of the finger that keeps the ring in place. That is not very comfortable…
