// And then she would go to the fashion show…
Posted on | April 29, 2010 | 3 Comments

I could have caused an enormous dilemma for me by stressing about the dressing for my first ever fashion show visit… …but I did not. It was quite clear for me that I would build the outfit around another of my two pairs of Kaksi-Två leggings — and I picked the marbled ones, they have not been too much in use. I like them, but somehow they are not too easy to mix to my regular rotation. That is actually funny, the much more bold abstract zebra print just feels so much easier!
So I wore them with old Zara silk organza envelope dress with subtle transparency details — I like how the leggings strip the office hygiene out of this dress, the feeling is almost futuristic; Carin Wester wedges, Aarikka necklace worn as a bracelet and matte white nails. Originally I bought this Opi matte polish to be used under other polishes, but the flat white look is growing on me… And I have a bruise on my shoulder marking the regular gym-goer, steel is stronger than flesh Q.E.D..

// Showing it out

I had a very welcome opportunity to see Kaksi-Två’s first fashion show at Kaapelitehdas today. I have been a fan of their great legwear and awesome leather accessories for a while, so I was very eager to see how far they had pushed their designs for a whole show and collection.
There indeed were some very familiar elements, leggings with marble & zebra prints and couple of new prints. The leathers had expanded from great soft bags to vests and accessories plus one striking cape / poncho that was paired to marbled catsuit. I also loved the combination of black sheer layers with printed lycra — and there were also couple of quite wearable jumpsuits on the show. I’m not actually a hooded sweater girl, but textured vests made simple sweater outfits definitely interesting. A brilliant idea was to co-operate with Saara Kivimäki for the show — her whimsical shoe creations fitted perfectly to Kaksi-Två’s clean lined, easygoing and playful designs. One thing though… …I did not quite get the sauna theme behind the show — the whole vibe of the collection was more urban street than countryside lounging.
I’m quite ready to add some Kaksi-Två leather and maybe one pair of awesome Saara Kivimäki boots to my wardrobe… …and now it is possible. They will be available from Monday at Helsinki 10 and Beamhill.
Sorry, the images are not too good… …I forgot to ask if I may use the flash so I did not. Unfortunately the lighting was very steep and kind of ended before the runway, so some models end up posing in dark spot…

Squishy leather by Kaksi-Två and Saara Kivimäki. Those ruffled boots were stunning.
How delicious is this?

My favorite styling from the show were these textured mesh pants over leggings looks. I think I could use some of that mesh, especially the dropped crotch pair just calls my name… The makeup was actually pretty rad, but unfortunately the upper image of these is the only one that gives some sort of idea of it.
Great texture here!
Happy designer duo Marjo Kuusinen and Piia Keto presenting their first show.

// The end — and then some!
Posted on | December 1, 2009 | 6 Comments
My fellow blogger, Steff seems to be much better aware what happens here in Finland!
Anyway, End opened a great little web shop with worldwide shipping, you can get for example beautiful Kaksi-Två leggings, their genious bags and MMM designs there, including these fab pants!

These both leggings are from Kaksi-Två — and available from End.

And Lumi Accessories has now a brand new web shop, they sell the McHann line there too. Worldwide shipping, of course — and it is free if you spend over 200 €.
This December is good indeed for Finnish fashion fans!

// Lazy layering
Posted on | October 11, 2009 | 8 Comments
Here’s some quite lazy and relaxed layering with somewhat familiar items.

I got some weakish inspiration from Marni SS10 show, the striped leggings were beautifully combined to shades of brown and flesh. I was about to dig something brown or rose in addition to these… …but then the laziness really stroke. I’m wearing my Kaksi-Två zebra leggings, H&M nude silk dress, Anette Görtz jacket, Necklush and Mentor for Rützou boots.
The Necklush has been here on my drawing only — and it is the last piece of my fall wardrobe plan. My H&M allowance has been used for few Divided Exclusive items (leggings, t-shirt and dress), one silk shirt and one dress from sale. And I had two slips from the plan, Wunder and Norwegian Wood got me… Now my shopping is officially limited to second hand only — until spring… …and the spring wardrobe plan should be gradually initiated.
I’m really happy that I picked the Necklush in printed version — one important observation about my wardrobe is that it lacks both print and texture. What I don’t really need more is wardrobe basics — until the old ones break or wear out.

If you have read this blog for a while, you can probably spot few minor changes and improvements. I wanted the links stand out better, so that is the reason for that pink introduction. I added some key tag links to the About-section on the right (now I have much more clear view what I’m going to do with this blog than I had when I started). I added the Link Within gadget in the end of the posts to pull up some older content — you have to go to the post page to see them. The relevance of the links will improve gradually. I also added the Webshopping section to the side bar, the idea is to add links to the web shops I have personally used — and had good experiences so far. Not too many updates in sight.
Hope you enjoy the improvements! Suggestions are always welcome.

// Photographic flowers
Posted on | September 30, 2009 | 14 Comments

I feel pretty embarrassed about the H&M heaviness of my posts… …don’t know why they manage to produce such mass production garments that they really appeal me.
Take this dress. It’s heavy cotton-viscose satin with sturdy exposed metallic zipper on back, full lined, boned, with absolutely delightful photographic flower print with nearly graphic mix of black and white and super vivid hues. What can a girl do, especially when she sees something like this in sale, for ridiculous 24 €? Teamed it to an old cap sleeve T, Kaksi-Två marble print leggings (have I said that I love Kaksi-Två leggings?) and my old rubber band MC boots. For going out I threw on my trustworthy old Filippa-K wool blazer for some grown up kind of flair. No accessories… …but a Lanvin necklace with ridiculously sized gems would be rad with this… *dreaming on*

// Zebra print
Posted on | September 5, 2009 | 6 Comments

I think that Marjo Kuusinen and Piia Keto from Kaksi-Två make some finest leggings in Scandinavia. This pair is luxuriously thick and soft nylon, printed with neat, slightly angularized zebra print in cream and ink blue. The graphic version of loud and bold animal print is surprisingly wearable and easy to combine to different outfits, plus somehow the stripes manage to be quite flattering.
Too bad that their web shop seems to be offline (um, it tells that it’s on summer vacation… …so hopefully they will be back soon). I have seen a small selection of their clothes in Helsinki 10.
In addition to my savanna camouflage I’m wearing Complex Geometries strap top with the strap simply over the shoulder, All Saints cardigan that can also be wrapped around in multitude of ways, old Topshop bag & Vagabond wedges.
