// Still no see thru…

Posted on | July 5, 2010 | 1 Comment

I’ve been lusting after Whyred and Alexander Wang lucite heels — but right now I feel that they are relatively easily forgotten. Thanks to Susie. She recently introduced these beautiful, clean lined acrylic Otto jewelry and Helen Furber’s amazing BA work — alas, no news in this blog. And to be honest I don’t have much to add — except that these both designers really hit my nerve of aesthetics. I also feel that those lightweight but mighty in size handmade acrylic jewelry would be exactly what the doctor prescribed to my current jewelry rejection syndrome.

I also have to chime Susie in this — sustainable fashion feels often a pass to sell some sloppy design. But Helen’s work is nothing but brilliant — and I absolutely respect the fact that the sustainability concept runs through the whole manufacturing process — and the shoe can be easily disassembled and the pieces recycled.

The question is — who would like to recycle those beauties? I would treasure them for my lifetime and testament them with strict advise how to keep them for generations to come.

// Have I seen it all?

No! However thoroughly explored the strappy shoe territory might be these days, there always will be designs pushing it just a bit further.

I love the haphazard organization of beautiful leather straps on these Michael Kors shoes. Shame that Style.com doesn’t provide a side view of these…

// I am tempted

Posted on | May 30, 2010 | 2 Comments

I saw Cocorosa wearing these beautiful clogs a while ago… …but maybe because I was slightly scared the sky high heel (rigid, wooden sole and over 10 cm heel… …no thanks) I did not check Su-Shi website. But now I did. In addition to some great shoes they make pretty rad bags. And the prices are not bad. The details and materials look great and the designs are not direct knockoffs (which is actually quite typical in this price group). The satchel shares the lines of Mulberry Alexa — but satchel form is quite generic, Mulberry certainly did not invent it — and the clean lines and distinct hardware give this bag a personal look. It looks like the bag has a suede lining, which is nice…

The drawback of vintage — great item, wrong size. Go and get them before they are gone. Booties sz 8 from Raiarox, clogs sz 7 from Marie’s Vintage.

// Eksoskeletal legs

Posted on | May 13, 2010 | 3 Comments

My heel accident made me look flat shoes from new angle. I had been stalking a pair of high top sandals in Brandos last summer, but they sold out in my size before I got to the actual decision point. Considering these two things and –30% sale coupon to Ellos it did not take too long to actually go for these Bronx ones. For 62€ price tag for a leather sandal I think they are rather difficult to pass.

One detail that slightly bugs me in these is the distribution of those straps on the ankle — but I can live with that. Overall I’m very happy with the design — the strappy texture and the eksoskeletal structure on the front will be a nice addition to many outfits.

I also made a decision that I will never buy heels without trying them on from now on. On heels I need a decent, well balanced shoe and good touch to the ground — which means that there has to be some bend on the sole.

// Almost there

Posted on | May 10, 2010 | 5 Comments

I have been eyeing these Vagabond sandals… …I like everything in them, the clumpiness, the unfussy “health sandal” look, even the price (69 €) — but one small detail just ruins them for me. The ugly attachment of the leather strips to the soles. Few round rivets instead of those “office type” staples, maybe couple of euros more price and I would have been sold.

// Dear Cynthia

Posted on | May 2, 2010 | 1 Comment

I have to say that I remember seeing your name, maybe in some department stores, maybe on magazines. But it was this very morning I stumbled to your site for the first time — and I’m very pleasantly surprised. I would love to add those two tone buckled wedges to my shoe collection — and I have to say that I’m really digging your take on clogs, especially those gray with bronze straps. And I’m even not that into clogs…

All images from Cynthia Vincent — please make the product images larger, folks!

// Don’t be too careful what you wish for

Posted on | April 7, 2010 | 11 Comments

Because sometimes you might really get it! These babies (Carin Wester Lydia platforms) are now rightfully mine — a decent compensation for to be labeled one year older since Sunday.

They are made of softest of all leathers, the kind you usually see in gloves — so they feel like some smooth creature hugging my feet gently. A slight minus is that the wedge is bit heavy — meaning literally, not looks-wise — for the construction, so they feel bit stompy (is that a word, really?) and walking in these is not as graceful as it could be (there is nothing wrong in the last and they are otherwise very easy to walk).

But I don’t care. I’m starting over-using these as soon as the weather allows (it snowed this morning, yes it did). Now booking the pedicure here, sometimes it just helps to think positively…

Thank you, my love!
