// Subtly low cut

Filippa-K is one of my trusted brands for basics. Bit pricey, but good quality — and easily avalable here in Helsinki. The brand is very commercial and cautious, but sometimes they manage to smuggle in some genious pieces. This winter collection is perhaps even more mainstream than usual, but again I can find some basics I really like. A subtle pair of harem cut pants would be rad for winter. And grey leather jacket.

// Why is everything beautiful so darn expensive
Posted on | August 21, 2009 | No Comments
Dang, I saw some Whyred boots on their site — and they are perfect. Nice, concealed platform, high heel and just enough detail to be above ordinary. Those Vagabond boots I have been thinking so far to be my next everyday booties started to look just so plain… I kind of could justify spending some cash for short black boots, they truly are my wardrobe staple and I certainly would like to have a perfect pair.

Abi’s above would deplete my modest funds for hefty 309 euros. On the other hand the combination of chunky heel, exaggerated toe, leather and stretch is quite compelling. I really, really like the overall shape of this boot.
Lawida is another brilliant pair. Slightly lighter build, and nice detail with textured and smooth leather panels, zippers and some stretch ribbing.
I’m pretty sure that when I get the money saved, these beauties are gone… …but of course I can try. My old black booties (seen in previous post) go still pretty well for couple of months, at least.

// Black and white print

For a time I have been keeping my eyes open for black and white t-shirt, with somewhat loose lines and with intricate but interesting print. This Gemma Degara piece illustrates those outlines perfectly. Love the delicate line with strong and unusual imagery.

// The simplest DIY idea ever

How great this little remake is? Just a pair of pantyhose with hole in a crotch (ouch, I might get some interesting search engine traffic for that) and shortened legs — or should I say sleeves? Punched and unraveled to desired state of destruction. A perfect piece for layering. Plus can you imagine all the possibilities with fishnets, colored tights, embellished tights…
Via Looklet, a great interwebs app found via Susie Bubble — see what you can do with it. I haven’t been this amused by my computer since my first encounter to SimCity. The best part — you can vin a pair of YSL cage shoes just by playing with it!
Oh, I found there another great piece that I really covet. Unfortunately this is not as simple to DIY, possible though.

If I can get just one item from the sales, could it be these fabulous Marni sandals from Net-A-Porter?
